Wolfram|Alpha Comes Alive with CDF

Launched last month, the Computable Document Format (CDF) puts easy-to-author interactivity at its core, empowering readers to drive content and generate results live.

Now a major new example of CDF is on its way: Wolfram|Alpha. With experimental interactive features based on CDF technology, get active answers with active controllers. Just download the Wolfram CDF Player and look for the CDF icon on select Wolfram|Alpha results pages to start exploring.

Mathematica Tip of the Day Twitter Feed

Follow @MathematicaTip on Twitter to get a new Mathematica tip, trick, or neat example every day.

Examples

Numerical indefinite integral of e.g. Exp[Sin[t]]: f = y /. First@NDSolve[{y[0]==0, y'[t]==Exp[Sin[t]]}, y, {t,0,8}]; Plot[f[x],{x,0,8}]

Equivalent ways to define a pure function: Function[x, x^2] or Function[#^2] or #^2 &. Use like any function: #^2 &[7].

Convert your plaintext code to formatted "StandardForm" input: Type (Sqrt[a]+b)^c/d and press Ctrl+Shift+N (Mac: Cmd+Shift+N).

A Measure of Success: Designing Hearing Aid Parts with Mathematica

Mathematica is an essential part of Daniel Warren's position as director of research for Knowles Electronics, one of the only companies in the world that designs microphones and speakers for hearing aids.

"What Mathematica allowed me to do was focus on each individual part of the problem, and then I throw it all to Mathematica and let it solve everything as a big system for me." More »
